Walk through a three-level maze, killing everything in sight and collecting items along the way. The aim is to collect as many gems as possible and to kill as much as possible. The maze is fixed and doesn't change between games. Only one item fits on each square.
The screen shows a 3D view of what's ahead, lit by your torch. Under it are two bars: your spell energy (SP) and hit points (HP). A rope hanging from a hole in the ceiling means you can ascend (A); a pit in the floor means you can descend (D). Doors can be walked through. Under Display you can switch to the original HP-28 screen, where messages appear at the top right and the bars are on the right.

When a list of items is on the screen, press 1–3 to pick a line, ↑ / ↓ to scroll, and ., 0 or Esc to cancel. You can also click an item in the Pack list.
Most items are unidentified until you read the right scroll. The idle timer is how the original worked: if you don't press a key for 3 seconds you rest, or in a fight you attack. Your score is your level × 100.
